West Lothian Council has green-lighted plans for building a £14.3m primary school in Calderwood, East Calder. Construction might start next month once the blueprint, proposal and estimated cost are approved by the Council’s education executive. Incidentally, the Council executive has already given the go-ahead following consultations with other board members.

Contributions from the developer will go a long way in financing the operations of the primary school. The funds from Calderwood development will help finance the education of 128 nursery and 462 primary school children. The developer has joined hands with Stirling Developments and the local community for constructing the new school.

Morgan Sindall Construction has already started constructing a transport hub and a town square that will form the core of £1bn Dundee Waterfront restoration. Dundee City Council inked a deal with the developer for modernising the Dundee Waterfront. Development work at the waterfront site juxtaposing the V&A Museum of Design involves landscaping a 7,000sqft ‘urban beachfront’ bordered by benches.

The landscaped seafront will be also encircled by a full-fledged travel hub with cycle hiring and storage facilities. The layout of the travel hub mirrors the design of the adjacent museum. Dundee City Council is optimistic that both locals and tourists passing through NCN Route 1 – UK’s flagship cycling route – will flock to the redesigned Waterfront Place.

Some key features of the seafront comprise hard landscaping constituted from Dutch bricks, grassed dunes and footpaths. The developer may also build a water fountain featuring automatic pop jets and a full-fledged play park.
