Avant Homes Scotland Gets the Green Light for Constructing 120 Homes in Dundee
Dundee City Council has green-lighted planning for the construction of 120 homes in Dundee, Scotland. The City Council (Dundee) has awarded the construction project to Avant Homes Scotland, a household name in the homebuilding industry. The new development encompasses a total area of 15.35 acres, situated in the ‘Baldragon View’ suburb of Dundee.
The City Council is planning to develop several housing projects across the suburbs of Dundee in the coming years, including the Baldragon development project. Avant Homes will construct 120 four- and three-bedroom houses and announced that the development will provide employment to many individuals. Work at the site is scheduled to start in October and it may take approximately five years to complete construction.
The first few homes will be all-set to accommodate residents by the summer of 2021.
Willmott Dixon Bags a £31.5m Housing Project
Willmott Dixon has inked a £31.5m deal with Rotherham Council for building three housing projects in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The three town centre developments will comprise a medley of apartments and homes for council housing, reasonably priced houses, and shared ownership accommodation. A total of 171 units will be constructed across three sites in Wellgate, Sheffield Road, and Westgate.
Bond Bryan Architects have designed the layout for all the three developments that are scheduled to be completed in 2022. The developments underscore the revisiting of Willmott Dixon to Rotherham. The University Centre Rotherham was the last project that Willmott Dixon had completed in this South Yorkshire town in 2018.
The developer recently completed the construction of 118 affordable homes in Yorkshire, Doncaster. Willmott Dixon is also involved in developing two housing projects in Leeds consisting of 59 houses.
McAlpine Awarded £650m Island Quarter Development Project in Nottingham
Sir Robert McAlpine, a family-owned civil engineering and construction company, has been selected as the chief contractor for the £650m Island Quarter Development’s first phase in Nottingham.
In the initial phase, Sir Robert McAlpine will just construct Phase 1A of The Island Quarter development. The estimated value of this first phase referred to as Canal Turn will be about £9m.
The Canal Turn development entails the building of a three-storied 2200 sq. m pavilion on the riverside with 500sq. m of exhibition area and two restaurants. The latter phases of the project will witness the construction of a hotel, flats, offices, and shops at the 40-acre site.
Willmott Dixon Contracted for Building a New College in Manchester
Willmott Dixon has been awarded a £54m contract to construct a new college in Manchester at the site of the old Boddingtons brewery.
In the first phase of the Manchester College’s estate scheme, Willmott Dixon will create a hub for digital and creative industries. The developer will build up to four storeys at the erstwhile Strangeways Brewery site on the junction of Great Ducie Street and New Bridge Street.
Bond Bryan and Simpson Haugh Architects have jointly designed this new development that will accommodate film studios, editing suites, two theatres, rehearsal rooms, dance studios, photography and recording studios.
