Bobcat S550 Goes the Distance at Scottish Country Parks

One of our S550 Bobcat skidsteer loaders has recently been out on hire to Ipswich based stone and timber sign manufacturers The Sand Blast Sign Company. The specialist signage firm has recently been given the contract to manufacturer a number of distance markers for two Scottish country parks Strathclyde and Dumpellier. Both country parks are located on the outskirts of Glasgow and are popular with families, Cyclists and runners. The new stone markers will display various distances around the parks and will hopefully attract more runners to use the open space.

Due to the rough terrain and limited access at some parts of the park, transporting the heavy sandstone markers to their desired location was not a simple task. However the Bobcat S550 skid steer loader which they chose to rent from our plant hire depot in Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire was the ideal machine for the job. Fitted with the pallet forks attachment the 2.8 ton machine was able to carry the distance markers with ease to their location at both country parks.

The Bobcat S550 is part of Bobcats new 500 series plant form which was introduced back in 2013. The new loaders feature a range of upgrades over the previous models including a forward positioned cab which brings the operator closer to the action, improving visibility, which is highly beneficial when using some of the attachments which are available for Bobcat loaders.
