Bobcat Cleans Up After Floods

26th January, 2016

This winter has seen heavy rain and widespread flooding right across the UK affecting homes and business over the festive period and into the New Year. For anyone affected it certainly has been a miserable start to the year, and sadly for some the risk of further flooding is still not over.

Tynedale Golf Club in Hexham was unfortunately one the victims this year. Located in a picturesque parkland on the banks of the River Tyne the Northumberland municipal golf club was badly flooded in many places during early December. As the waters began to subside, they left with them over a foot of sand and silt in places which would need clearing before the greens staff had any chance of bringing the course back to life.

We supplied a Bobcat S550 skidsteer loader on hire to Northumberland County Council along with an Angle Broom attachment which proved the ideal machine for the clean-up task. The rotating broom which can be directed up the 30 degrees left or right, was able to loosen up the heavy wet sand and manoeuver it into piles where the same Bobcat loader could collect the sand using its interchangeable bucket. However, a mention must be included for the team of volunteers who also turned out to help with the clean-up.

Our range of Bobcat equipment which can be hired from our UK Branches in Newcastle, Wigan, Wakefield, and Glasgow is perfect for flood clear up. The Bobcat tracked loader range is especially well suited due to its increased weight distribution it is the ideal machine for working on wet, boggy or flooded ground. For further information on hire contact your local MTS branch.
