Kingpin Arenas Work Smart with Bobcat

25th April, 2016

Last year Bobcat EMEIA set about stimulating sales of their loader and attachment range through a new marketing initiative named “Tough Jobs”. The aim of the “Tough Jobs” initiative is to show the versatility of the Bobcat loader by promoting the machines ability to quickly interchange between attachments. Allowing one Bobcat skidsteer or tracked loader to perform a wide range of jobs which usually would require a multitude of different machines.

During their latest project in North Yorkshire, Leeds based equine arena construction specialist’s, Kingpin Arenas, have fully embraced the Bobcat tough jobs initiative and made use of not 1, but 5 Bobcat attachments throughout the job. Kingpin Arenas purchased a new Bobcat T590 Tracked Loader from MTS Plant back in 2015. The Bobcat loader is always an important piece of machinery on site for Kingpin Arenas, often fetching and carrying materials using their 4 in 1 bucket and pallet forks. However, during their latest assignment, (the construction on a 1,500 m2 outdoor horse riding arena near York) the Bobcat tracked loader has completed the project almost on its own.

Before any of the stone, or sand can be laid down to create arena, the whole sub-base must be accurately levelled, which Graham Kinghorn (Owner of Kingpin Arenas) explained would usually be done using a 13t excavator and grading bucket. On a good day the 1,500 m2 would be levelled in around 8 hours using this method, however for their latest job they have chosen to hire a Bobcat grader attachment from MTS Plant, who also offer Bobcat equipment for hire. Using the Bobcat grader and their T590 tracked loader Graham explained they finished the whole area in just 3 hours, a 63% time saving compared to using the 13t excavator. The Bobcats benefits didn’t stop there, as Graham was also able to make use of the Vibrating Roller, and trencher attachment with his T590. Both of which again were provided by MTS Plant.

The trencher attachment was used to cut a number of precise channels in the soft ground ideal for the drainage system to be installed by Kingpin Arenas. The vibrating roller which was provided on demo from MTS Plant was ideal for compacting the layer of stone which was to be placed on top of the sub-base of the arena. The ability to utilise these two attachments alongside the T590 already on site meant Kingpin arenas need not hire a further 2 separate machines, ultimately reducing their plant hire costs for the job.

MTS Plant are specialist in Bobcat plant hire. Their USP is their expertise when it comes to Bobcat equipment, which allows MTS to offer some of Bobcat’s most specialist attachments in their hire fleet, including the Wheel Saw, Precision Laser Grader, Tree Spade, Surface Planer and much more.
